Key Figures in the Case

Ken Dolezsar

He was gunned down on November 15, 2007, at 7:00 a.m. while meeting with an unidentified individual. His wife, Leslie, believed the meeting was with David Novak; however, a message indicated the man’s name was Robert. The killing was executed in a hitman-style manner—three shots to the chest and two to the head.

Leslie Mower

She was married to Ken Dolezsar. At the time of his murder, she was serving a sentence in federal prison for money laundering and tax fraud. Prior to her marriage to Ken, she had been married to Tom Mower Sr. She and Tom were business partners with Ken before she and Ken married.

The Mower family

Tom Sr., Tom Jr., Thomas, and Kaden are members of the Mower family. Tom Sr. was previously married to Leslie prior to their divorce. Following Leslie’s marriage to Ken Dolezsar, reports suggest there was considerable tension between the families. Some sources have also made unverified claims regarding possible connections between members of the family and organized crime.

David Novak

David ran a consulting firm for wealthy clients preparing to serve prison time, with Leslie among his clients. Having served time himself, he used his experience to build the business. Reports indicate he borrowed about $2 million from Ken Dolezsar to finance a film about his life—a project that was never completed—raising questions about what happened to the money and whether it would ever be repaid.

A witness reported seeing two men arguing outside the restaurant moments before gunfire erupted. Initially, he said he hadn’t gotten a clear look at the shooter, only recalling a Russian accent and a ponytail. Later, it was revealed that he had revisited the scene several times and digitally compared photos in an effort to identify the suspect. In court, he testified that he recognized Chris’s eyes and was “100 percent certain” of his identification.

Unknown Male

The shooter was described as having a Russian accent and a ponytail. Chris, however, is bald and does not have a Russian accent. Considering that Ken personally knew Chris, it seems unlikely that he would not have noticed if Chris had arrived in his car wearing a wig and speaking with a foreign accent.

Chris Wright

Chris has consistently maintained his innocence. He stated that at the time of the murder, he and his wife, Bianca, were home sick in bed after eating something that had made them ill the night before. As Chris explained, “Why would I kill someone for not giving me a loan for a project? I’m certainly not going to get the money now.” He also remarked, “If I showed up in Ken’s car wearing a wig, what would be the point? He knows who I am—and he certainly knows I’m not Robert, as the voice recording mentioned.”

Bianca has always stood by Chris, maintaining that she knew exactly where he was that morning—by her side. She has never doubted his innocence. Although the two are no longer married, she continues to be deeply involved in efforts to prove Chris’s innocence and secure his release.
